As the disclaimer explains, this site is really one big experiment. A dive into the possibilities — and above all (for now) the impossibilities — of AI.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating! In other words: it is a matter of trying things out and judging the results.

I write the texts myself, but let AI loose on that input and the most playful additions come out. My own photographs suddenly gain something extra in seconds. Photoshopping it yourself? Not at all, it is done for you. The more precisely you describe what you want — that is what we call creative thinking — the better the results.

But this project is also growing within the family. The first results can be seen on this site too. My father's AVH is, of course, not available anywhere as a scale model. It was, after all, a one-off. Even though it repeatedly made the national papers, his car was not so famous that, let's say, Dinky Toys made a model of it.

But recently I got a model! These are the first trials, and I must say — the result is already astonishing. How did I come by it?

Official certificate from the regional motor sport club Regionale Automobielsport Club R.A.C.-West, awarded to A.S.P. van Houten on 15 May 1955
Auto Zandvoort Ster · 15 May 1955
A.V.H. Sport · 3920 cc · built 1951 · average speed 114.44 km/h over 4 laps. By then the Fiat engines had been replaced by a V8. The car did have to be shortened first!

George, James and Jack — aged 11 and 12 — recently had a big plan. They pooled their savings and bought a real 3D printer with them…

There are various programs on the market, and before long the gentlemen had set up a production line of little dogs and cats for their friends — for a fee, naturally. Entrepreneurs in the making.

When asked "can you also make a little car from a photograph?", the answer was yes. And sure enough, two days later the first model was presented. "It wasn't easy, Grandad, because the program isn't made for cars." But once we have saved up again we can buy a new program, and then it can be much better.

And as it happens, I still had one lovely wish. My father's first racing car was a FIAT 1100 Sport. The boys are already working on it. You can see what the car looked like in the photographs.

That very special story will follow soon.
